A Perfect Day
March 27, 2008
My ideas about a perfect ‘homeschool’ day have changed quite a bit since I first started out two years ago. Today might not have even made it to the top ten back then but now….well, it was darn near perfect
We took Adrian to school and then went swimming. Afterwards we went to lunch where we discussed atmospheric science. I discovered that in their own studies, on their own time, the girls have learned far more than I realized. All the while Zee practiced writing letters and reading words. After lunch we did some shopping, picked up Adrian and came home. At home the girls did their typing for the day and then wrote in their math notebooks. They loved the new math site! All the kids went outside to play. After dinner the girls caught some of ‘How It’s Made’ on the Discovery Channel before heading upstairs to read and go to bed.
So what makes this so good? I’m not sure if it was any one part exactly or just the whole day together. Or maybe it was just because it was one of those rare days when I didn’t loose my patience. Or because the girls didn’t complain once about school work. Or maybe swimming first thing in the morning is just really good for my mood
